About Hallwood

35 years of handmade kitchens and specialist woodwork

Hallwood Furniture was started in 1981 by Graham & Helen Smith. They took over The Old Stables yard in Kettering, Northamptonshire, opening the business as a bespoke joinery company called J.G. Smith Joinery, making windows, doors, and custom woodwork for the people of the surrounding area. The company continued to grow, and in the early 90's the yard was expanded to allow more manufacturing and showroom space. The joinery company evolved into Hallwood Furniture after a huge demand for handmade kitchens. This became the lifeblood of the company. Handmade Kitchens are the hallmark of Hallwood Furniture, and will continue to be as we grow and expand into 2017.

We pride ourselves on our attention to detail, and our ability to solve most issues in our clients' homes, big or small. Alongside our completely bespoke kitchen offering, we also create studies, wine rooms, bathrooms, bars and living spaces for our clients. We even created the Tack Room Bar for our friends at Warner Edwards Distillery.

Our rich history is due to our passion for beautiful furniture. We have exported to mainland Europe and the USA, which continues to this day.

We love what we do!

Design Process

Everything we create at Hallwood is custom designed and made to suit the space. There is no one size fits all from us! We invite you to first visit our showroom in Kettering to see just a selection of the products we offer. If you have plans for your own space please bring them along. We will learn from you what you want in your kitchen: important features, larder cupboards, chopping boards, appliances. Then we will take it from there, incorporating all these aspects into our hand drawn designs. We then invite you back to the showroom to discuss the designs, and make any amendments you wish to make.

Next up, the all important materials. Oak, hand painted and walnut, ash and maple are just some of the possible designs and finishes you have to choose from, alongside some of our unique finishes. We also welcome your ideas and suggestions in creating your kitchen. We have a huge selection of finish samples for you to consider, as well as stone and quartz for work surfaces.

Once the design is agreed, we will move on to the appliances. We have partnerships with some of the worlds' leading appliance brands, including Sub-Zero & Wolf, Miele, Quooker, Kohler and Perrin & Rowe. Our extensive showroom allows us to display many of them.

After everything is agreed, we measure up the space and get to work, machining and readying the materials for the finishing department to apply the final touches, before installing everything in your home.

The Workshop

Our workshops are located opposite our showroom in Kettering. We invite you to come and view some of our projects as they pass through our manufacturing process, from start to finish. We do everything in house, so there is plenty to see here.

We always have a selection of ongoing projects at various different stages of production for you to see.
